I love Starbucks colorful iced beverages: Pink Drink, Purple Drink, Green Drink, and Blue Drink. But my favorite is this Ombré Pink Drink!

I’m obsessed with this beautiful two-tone iced beverage. When unmixed, there’s a bright red to light pink ombré effect that’s completely breath-taking! With some simple tricks, you can easily make it at home too! Plus, my version is healthier, and it tastes better too!

What’s in the Ombré Pink Drink?

Ombre Drink ingredients on the counter.
  • Passion Tea Bags: You can buy the tea bags at your local grocery store such as Whole Foods or order them online from Amazon. My favorite brand is Tazo passion herbal tea.
  • Lemonade:  Original Starbucks ombre drink uses Cool Lime Refresher, which is made with lime juice, but I find lemonade tastes way better while still giving you that refreshing and slightly tart flavor! You can substitute lime juice if you prefer.
  • Coconut Milk: When mixed with lemonade, it tastes absolutely amazing! You can use either sweetened or unsweetened coconutmilk.
  • Simple Syrup or Sugar: Customize this drink with your preferred sweetness level with simple syrup or sugar. For a healthier option, use Stevia to sweeten your drink.
  • Ice: You’ll need LOTS of ice for this recipe.

How to Make Ombré Pink Drink at Home

Ombre drink recipe: step 1 and 2 photos.

1. Prepare the passion tea. Pour hot water over the passion tea bag. (As the tea won’t get mixed with the rest of the drink, you can add some syrup or sugar to the tea at this step if you prefer a sweeter drink.)

2. Steep the tea for 5 minutes. Then let it chill in the refrigerator.

4. Add simple syrup. Stir to combine. (Add syrup gradually until it reaches your desired sweetness level).

Pro Tips for a Perfect Ombré Pink Drink

  • Make sure to chill your tea until it’s cold before making the drink.
  • You can control the level of sweetness by adding more or less syrup (or sugar). For a healthier option, use Stevia.
  • Use a lot of ice! Fill the glass 3/4 full of ice first. Add the lemonade and coconut milk mixture until it reaches the top of the ice. Then add more ice before pouring in the passion tea.
  • Add the chilled passion tea very slowly so that it won’t get mixed with the white beverage underneath.

Frequently Asked Questions

How to Order the Ombré Drink at Starbucks?

There are several variations of Ombre Pink Drink: you can have a soft pink color or pure white color at the bottom. For the first option, order a tall Pink Drink served in a grande cup, and then ask your barista to top it with a splash of iced passion tea.

For the second option, like the photos you see on this post, ask for a tall Cool Lime Refresher, but sub in coconut milk for water, served in a grande cup. Then get it topped with iced passion tea.

What Does Ombré Drink Taste Like?

This drink has a creamy, sweet, slightly tart, and fruity flavor. It’s one of my favorite drinks as I love the taste of lemonade and coconut milk mixed together.

How to Create the Ombré Effect Properly?

The trick is to use LOTS of ice!

First, fill the glass 3/4 full of ice. Add the lemonade and coconut milk mixture until it reaches the top of the ice. Top the glass with more ice. Then pour in the passion tea VERY SLOWLY over the ice.

Stick in a straw, and the two layers will start to swirl into a beautiful ombré!

Is the Ombré Drink Healthy?

In order to make this drink taste good, you’ll need to add quite a bit of syrup or sugar, making it not as healthy as most of the other refreshers at Starbucks. But you can make it healthy at home by using Stevia to sweeten your drink.

Does the Starbucks Ombré Drink Have Caffeine in it?

Starbucks Ombre Pink Drink has caffeine in it. This version doesn’t have caffeine, but you can easily mix in some green coffee extract if you’d like to add caffeine to you’re your drink.
