Lipton Souperior Meatloaf with Onion Soup Mix

Lipton’s Onion Soup Mix is so popular that many consider it a pantry staple. This savory mix adds everything you love about French onion soup to your meatloaf. One packet provides a quick, convenient way to add “souperior” flavor to this dish – no need to chop onions.

There’re so many delicious side dishes you can serve with meatloaf. Here‘s a list that you’ll find some great ideas.

Ingredients for the Classic Lipton Onion Soup Meatloaf

  • Ground Beef: For the best flavor and texture, you’ll want to use ground beef with a ratio of 90/10. You want your loaf to be succulent, but not greasy. 90/10 or 85/15 beef is the sweet spot.
  • Lipton Onion Soup Mix: This versatile mix deserves a spot in every pantry. It’s all you need for a rich, flavorful loaf. These packets are available in most grocery stores or online
  • Eggs: It’s the key to a moist and juicy meatloaf. The ideal ratio is one egg per pound of ground beef.
  • Bread Crumbs: We used panko breadcrumbs, but any kind will do. To make your own, grind bread in a food processor and spread the crumbs in a single layer on a baking sheet. Bake for 10 minutes at 300ºF.
  • Ketchup: A traditional meatloaf isn’t complete without ketchup! Use your favorite brand of ketchup to add classic tomato flavor to this dish.

    1. Hi Angela, meatloaf sauce is optional for serving. You can use any sauce you like or make your own by combining ketchup, brown sugar, salt, pepper, and vinegar. Izzy

  1. Ok, I made the sauce & poked holes in the meatloaf with my fingers, I poured the sauce in the holes & spooned the rest on top of the meatloaf. First I’d like to say that green peppers ruins a good meatloaf & also too many onions. I didn’t measure the sauce, I put the ketchup, br sugar, salt & pepper, I put a cpl TBL spoons worcershire sauce & put in on the meatloaf b4 baking, it is so yummy. I didn’t use vinegar. I didn’t measure anything but the worcershire sauce. I cook alot & don’t measure sometimes, when I’m baking I always measure! Thank you for the sauce idea

    1. 5 stars
Green bell peppers are absolutely necessary for good meartloaf. So, my point is everyone has different tastes. Maybe it ruins your meatloaf, but not mine.

  2. I have a similar recipe but mine uses 2 tbsp of mustard and a quarter cup tomato sauce plus some for brushing on the top to keep it moist during baking. Love this recipe and have shared it with my whole family.
