Also known as Chinese gooseberry, kiwi has a unique flavor that’s a combination of strawberry, banana, pineapple and citrus!

They’re available in both green and golden varieties, and are a good source of fiber, vitamin C and antioxidants. They’re a colorful addition to fruit salads and can even be included in baked goods!

What Can Kiwi Be Used For?

In addition to enjoying kiwi fresh as a snack, kiwi can be added to fruit smoothies, baked in muffins, cakes and cobblers, added to fruit salads and salsas, layered in parfaits, and made into jam.

Can You Freeze Kiwi?

Yes, with a bit of preparation, kiwi can be frozen. Use kiwis that are fully ripe. Peel and cut into slices. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and place the kiwi on the tray. Ensure that the fruit is not touching. Cover with another piece of parchment paper and place in the freezer until frozen.

This will take anywhere from 4 to 6 hours. When frozen, transfer the kiwi to an airtight container or a freezer bag, ensuring all air has been removed. Properly frozen and stored kiwi slices will keep in the freezer for up to 12 months.
