What is Jungle Juice?

Rumor has it that the name comes from US soldiers when they used ingredients that they found in the jungle to create a makeshift cocktail. Therefore, it’s an improvised mixture of fruit juices and alcohol for a large group of people.

The flavors of juices and kinds of alcohol may vary so there are many ways to make it. Because of its low cost, simplicity, and fruity flavor, it’s popularly served at parties or other large gatherings.

Customize it with ingredients you have on hand

The full recipe with measurements is at the bottom of the post.

It’s made of a combination of 3 types of ingredients. The photo above shows the ingredients I used, but you can customize with whatever you have:

  • Fresh (or frozen) fruits I used fresh strawberries, oranges, and pineapples. Tip: use colorful fruits for a beautiful presentation.
  • Fruit juice  You can also use frozen juice concentrates such as frozen orange juice concentrate. Make sure to thaw them before mixing.
  • AlcoholRum, vodka, wine, tequila are good options. Adjust alcohol content to your preference. If you like a milder drink, simply reduce the amount of alcohol. You can also make a non-alcoholic version by omitting the spirits and using fruit juices instead.

How much should I prepare

A good rule of thumb is to estimate that each person will consume about 3-4 drinks in a two-hour party. If you know the turnout and how long the event lasts, you can estimate how much juice you’ll need in total.

To make the best Jungle Juice, here are 3 useful tips

Making jungle juice from scratch couldn’t be easier: It takes less than 5 minutes!

  1. Use a large punch bowl or container
Combine fruits with juices and alcohol
  • If you plan to serve this to a crowd, be sure to prepare a large punch bowl or container (at least 4 litres) and get enough ingredients. To make it, simply add fruits, juices and alcohol. Mix to combine. That’s it!
  1. Let it chill
Jungle Juice_Let it chill
  • To ensure your Jungle Juice stays refreshing throughout the party, I recommend chilling your alcohol and punch in advance so that your drink will stay refreshing throughout your party. In addition, the fruit can soak up the liquor.
  1. Add ice to the glass, not the pitcher
Serving jungle juice in a wine glass
  • Add ice to the glass when serving. Don’t add it to the pitcher as it can dilute the drink over time.
  • If you use carbonated drinks such as soda or ginger ale, add them right before serving.
  • I like to serve jungle juice in wine glasses for a classy look!

Storage

  • Storage: Store leftovers covered with plastic wrap for 3-4 days. Add a bit of club soda to the mix when you’re ready to drink.
  • Make it ahead: You can mix most of the ingredients 3-4 hours ahead of time to deepen the flavors and allow the fruit to soak up the alcohol. The longer you let the juice “marinate”, the boozier the fruits!

Easy Jungle Juice Recipe

By: Izzy
This jungle juice is a perfect punch for a large crowd on a budget. Easy to customize and takes less than 5 minutes to make!
This recipe makes about 15 cups of jungle juice.
Prep: 5 minutes
Total: 5 minutes
Servings: 30

Ingredients

  • 1/2 pound strawberries, sliced
  • 1 orange, sliced
  • 1 cup cubed pineapple
  • 4 cups orange juice
  • 2 cups fruit punch
  • 4 cups lemonade
  • 1 cup white rum, (You can add more rum for a stronger drink)
  • 2 cups vodka
  • 2 cups cranberry juice

Instructions

  • In a large punch bowl or pitcher, add sliced strawberry, orange, and pineapple.
  • Pour in orange juice, fruit punch, lemonade, white rum, vodka, and cranberry juice. Mix well.
  • If you have time, let the punch chill in the fridge for 3-4 hours so that the fruit can soak up the liquor.
  • To serve, add the ice cubes to a serving glass, and use a ladle to add the drink into the glass. Enjoy!

Notes

  • To plan a party on a budget, you can ask guests to bring their favorite alcohol or a bottle of fruit punch to contribute to the jungle juice.
  • For a more impressive look, you can make an ice ring using a bundt pan filled with water and fruit slices to make it extra fancy but on a low budget.
  • Does Jungle Juice punch get you drunk? Jungle Juice is famous for its ability to get you quite tipsy in a short time. Because of the fruity juices, it’s easy to keep sipping without realizing how much alcohol you’re consuming. This recipe has both rum and vodka, so it’s pretty potent.
  • What to serve with Jungle Juice: It goes well with appetizers like French fries, pigs in a blanket, or chicken wings.

Great recipe to start from. Went with all the same ingredients but changed up the measurements. I put two whole things of orange juice, lemonade, and fruit punch, the whole 1/5th / pint and a splash of cranberry juice and it turned out perfect!
