What Is Sweet Soy Glaze?

Soy glaze is a sweet and sticky sauce that’s typically made with honey, soy sauce, and various flavorings. As it cooks, it reduces to a sauce that can be added to poultry, meat, seafood, and sauces.

  • minced garlic
  • ginger
  • rice vinegar
  • hoisin sauce
  • sesame oil

How to Make Sweet Soy Glaze

  • Add all the ingredients to a pot and bring to a boil. Continue to boil, uncovered, for about 5 minutes or until syrupy and reduced. Stir often so it doesn’t burn. Discard the ginger and use the sauce as a glaze or a dipping sauce. Leftovers should be placed into an airtight container and refrigerated for up to two weeks. 

Tips For Making Sweet And Tangy Soy Glaze

  • Place all of the ingredients into a saucepan and boil for about 5 minutes. The sauce will begin to bubble and thicken. Keep a close eye on the sauce and stir often so it doesn’t burn. It’s ready when it coats the back of a spoon.
  • Soy glaze will continue to thicken as it cools so don’t reduce it too much as it cooks.

If you don’t have time to make soy glaze, use your favorite sweetener and some soy sauce instead. Brown sugar is a good choice.

Ingredients 

  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • ¼ cup honey
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1 inch fresh ginger, sliced
  • 3 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil

Instructions

    Thank you for this recipe! I looked at others & this one was so quick & I had everything I needed on hand. It tastes better & more fresh than the Hello Fresh soy glaze 🙂
