There’s something about the experience of biting into a hot piece of perfectly seasoned fried chicken. It’s definitely one of our favorite comfort foods.

The challenge with fried chicken though, is sometimes you just don’t feel like standing over a pot of hot oil, carefully watching the chicken so it doesn’t burn. For us, the solution is to make oven-fried chicken.

It’s just as juicy and tender, has amazing flavor, and there’s no need for a pot of oil!

Ingredients You’ll Need

  • Chicken wings or drumsticks
  • Eggs
  • Bisquick mix
  • Parmesan cheese
  • Garlic salt
  • Paprika
  • Melted butter

How to Make Oven Fried Chicken

  • Mix together Bisquick, parmesan cheese, garlic salt, and paprika.
  • In a smaller bowl, slightly beat the eggs.
  • First, dip the chicken pieces into the egg, and then into the Bisquick mixture.
  • Now dip the Bisquick-coated chicken into the egg again, and then dip them one more time into the bisquick mixture, so that they have nice and crispy coating when fully cooked.
  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Place the twice-coated chicken pieces on the sheet and brush the melted butter over them.
  • Bake in a 425°F oven for 25 to 30 minutes, remembering to turn the pieces halfway through for even cooking.

What Temperature Do I Need to Cook the Chicken to?

Chicken is fully cooked when it reaches an internal temperature of 165°F. To check for doneness, insert an instant-read thermometer into the thickest part of the chicken.

How Long Does Oven Fried Chicken Last?

Properly stored cooked chicken can be refrigerated for 3 to 4 days. Be sure to keep the chicken in an airtight container or wrapped tightly in foil.

Reheating Bisquick Oven Fried Chicken

The best way to reheat fried chicken is in an oven. This will help to keep it crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The chicken should be placed on a rimmed cookie sheet in a preheated 400°F oven, and baked for about 15 to 20 minutes.

How to Make This in An Air Fryer?

If you prefer to use an air fryer, preheat it to 400°F and spray the basket with oil. Set the timer for 20-25 minutes, and use an instant-read thermometer to check for doneness.
