How to Cook Beef Tips and Noodles

  • Add the beef to the crockpot along with the broth, onion, garlic, Worcestershire sauce and Italian seasoning.
  • Cover with the lid and cook for 6-7 hours on Low or 4 hours on High, until the meat is tender.
  • When the beef is done, leave it in the crockpot and use two forks to shred it into bite-size pieces. Season with salt and pepper to taste and add the noodles.
  • Cover and set the crockpot to High for 10 to 20 minutes until the noodles are al dente.
  • For a thicker sauce, mix together some cornstarch and cream to make a slurry. Add it to the crockpot until it begins to bubble and stir for a few minutes until the sauce is thick enough to coat the back of a spoon.

Tips and Tricks

  • This recipe calls for sirloin tips, but you can swap it out for stewing beef or chuck roast.
  • This dish can easily be made ahead of time. It can be stored in the fridge in an airtight container for up to 3 days, or in a freezer-safe container in the freezer for up to 3 months. After defrosting in the fridge, it can be reheated on the stovetop or in a microwave oven.
  • Instant Pot version: To save yourself some time, cook the beef in an Instant Pot. Follow the recipe and use the saute mode to brown the beef. Then set the Instant Pot to a manual high pressure cycle for 60 minutes with a natural release. Cook the noodles a few minutes before the beef is ready, and add them at the end.

Are Beef Stew And Beef Tips The Same?

Beef stew meat tends to come from tougher cuts of meat like rump or chuck roast. It’s a good option for dishes made in a slow cooker. Beef tips are usually cut from more tender cuts like tenderloin and sirloin.

Why Are My Beef Tips So Tough?

The beef may have been cooked at a temperature that was too high. It’s best to cook the beef low and slow for moist and tender results.
