  • Soy Sauce: (I recommend using low-sodium)
  • Vinegar
  • Sugar
  • Garlic

Can I Make it Ahead?

Yes, this recipe is great for meal prep and it reheats well. Store it in an airtight container and it’ll last for 4 days in the refrigerator.

Is Teriyaki Bowl Healthy?

This homemade recipe is much healthier than the restaurant version. It’s best to use low-sodium soy sauce to reduce the salt intake. You can also cut down the amount of honey or sugar to make it even healthier.

How to Serve Teriyaki Chicken?

Traditionally this recipe is served with rice and broccoli, but it’s also great with pasta and other veggies such as green beans, carrots, and asparagus.

Tips for Making the Best Teriyaki Bowl

  • Both chicken breasts and chicken thighs work for this recipe. Cube them into 1-inch pieces for quick cooking.
  • You can also use mirin and sake to make authentic teriyaki sauce if you have them. Use 1:1:1 ratio among soy sauce, mirin and sake. Add sugar according to your personal taste.
  • Serve it over rice for teriyaki chicken rice bowl. Or you can cook pineapple with your chicken for teriyaki chicken pineapple bowl. For a healthy recipe you can serve with lettuce wraps or brown rice.

Very good and easy to make! Although it is a different recipe from the video I saw on Pinterest! That one had honey, ginger in it and couldn’t find it when I looked on your site. I ended up adding ginger to it and some red pepper flakes!

    1. Same here! I didn’t see those ingredients in the recipe. I did make it though and it was a hit at home! I might substitute the sugar with honey to make it a bit healthy. The flavour was delicious regardless ๐Ÿ™‚

      1. Same here as well! It was still very delicious and I will definitely make it again. The sauce was not as dark as shown in the video or picture. I would like the recipe for the video. Cider vinegar not rice vinegar and honey not sugar was used in the video.

  2. This was simple and easy to make. I am not someone that has a flair for cooking so when i made this my housemates were surprised ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜
