What is Surimi Salad?

Originally from Japan, surimi salad is typically made with surimi, avocado, celery, and Japanese-style mayonnaise. You can also add other veggies such as cucumber, corn, or onions.

What is Surimi Made of?

Surimi is usually made with mild-flavored white fish like hake or pollock that has been ground into a paste. It can be formed into shapes and used in dishes like fish sausage, fish balls, and imitation crab meat.

Ingredients You’ll Need

  • Imitation Crab Meat
  • Mayonnaise
  • Lemon Juice
  • Salt & Pepper
  • Avocado
  • Vegetables of Your Choice: We use celery, cucumber and corn kernels

How to Make Surimi Salad

Surimi Salad
  • Combine the mayonnaise and lemon juice in a small mixing bowl and stir well until combined. 
  • Add a pinch of salt and pepper and stir again to combine.
  • In a large mixing bowl, add the remaining ingredients.
  • Add the mayo mixture and stir, and chill in the fridge.

Tips for Making it Ahead

This recipe can be made a day in advance. Be sure to store the dressing in a separate container and add it to the salad just before serving. 

How to Serve Surimi Salad

  • Enjoy it on a bed of lettuce or serve it in a bun as a sandwich. 
  • Surimi can also be added to cold pasta to make a delicious seafood pasta salad.

Ingredients 

  • 7 ounces surimi crab, roughly chopped
  • 1/2 avocado, cubed
  • 1 stalk celery, diced
  • 1/2 cucumber, diced
  • 2 cups, cooked corn kernels
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • salt and pepper to taste
