Today we’re sharing 22 delicious Burger Toppings to serve at your next BBQ party. Gone are the days of limiting burgers to traditional toppings like ketchup, mustard, and pickles. These days you can customize your burger any way you want, from avocado, to a fried egg, and even a juicy slice of pineapple!

Whether you prefer to keep it simple with a topping or two, or crave a sky-high combination of flavors, you can’t go wrong with a juicy burger.
Best Burger Toppings

1. Bacon
There’s nothing like the salty and smoky flavor that a slice of bacon adds to a burger. We like to cook the bacon until it’s crisp for an extra bit of crunch.
2. Pickles
Some prefer a juicy slice of dill pickle, while others love the sweet flavor of relish. Whatever your preference, pickles continue to be one of the most popular toppings for burgers.
3. Lettuce
If you’re looking for some crunch, lettuce is the perfect choice. And there are so many varieties to choose from! The cool crunch of lettuce perfectly complements the meaty and savory taste of a juicy burger.
4. Onions
Some people love the zippiness of raw onions, while others prefer the sweet caramelized goodness of slow-cooked onions. Either way, let’s agree that onions are a tasty addition to burgers!
5. Cheese
There’s something special about a melty slice of cheese on a burger. The best part is you get to choose your favorite! American and cheddar are classic flavors, but how about trying monterey jack, spicy havarti, or creamy brie?
6. Chiles
For those who love spicy food, a burger topped with fresh chiles will definitely hit the spot! Spread some creamy mayo on the bun for a nice hit of creamy goodness.
7. Fried Egg
If the thought of runny yolk has you saying, “yes, please,” you’ll love a burger topped with a sunny-side egg. Press down on the bun and bite into the burger of your dreams.

8. Tomato Slices
Here’s an easy way to enjoy salad and meat at the same time! Top your burger with sliced tomato and shredded lettuce for a delicious blend of savory and fresh flavors and textures.
9. Hummus
Instead of enjoying hummus as a dip, spread it on a hamburger bun instead! With so many flavors to choose from, you can add a variety of tasty flavor profiles to your burger.
10. Curry Paste
Big on flavor, curry paste adds next-level deliciousness to a burger. Mix it with mayo or ketchup for an amazing blend of flavors.
11. Pineapple
If you’re a fan of Hawaiian pizza, this one’s for you! Adding a slice of juicy and sweet pineapple to a burger is the ultimate savory and sweet treat. For even more flavor, grill the pineapple until slightly caramelized. Talk about delicious!
12. Coleslaw
It’s a great topping for tacos, so why not add it to burgers too! The best part is you can choose tangy coleslaw for a pleasant bite, or creamy coleslaw if you prefer a sweeter taste.
13. Avocados
Whether you prefer your burger topped with sliced avocado or a dollop of guacamole instead, you can’t go wrong with the combination of creamy avocado and savory beef.
14. Mac and Cheese
Enjoy this one as a cheat-day meal! Tender mac and cheese piled on a burger sounds crazy, but boy is it good.

15. Cream Cheese
If you love the taste of cream cheese on a bagel, smear some on a bun the next time you grill a burger! It has a delicious rich flavor and would be wonderful with some bacon, lettuce, and tomato.

18. Pastrami
Looking to add more meat to your burger? A few slices of pastrami will elevate the protein and the flavor. Full of smoked salty goodness, all you need is a slice of creamy provolone cheese and a smear of mustard for the ultimate burger.
19. Potato Chips
Instead of serving potato chips on the side, try them as a topping instead! Just choose your favorite flavor – ranch, sour cream & onion, or jalapeno would be amazing – pile it on your burger, and enjoy!
20. Fried Green Tomatoes
Feeling adventurous? How about trying this popular Southern U.S. side dish on your burger? All you have to do is thinly slice some green tomatoes, season them well with salt and pepper, coat them in some cornmeal, and then fry until tender.

If you love bold flavors, give this a try! Just add some crumbled blue cheese to buffalo wing sauce, and smear it on your burger. It’s a delicious combination of savory and spice!
22. Mushrooms
Some prefer the bouncy texture of grilled mushrooms, while others like them sauteed until tender. Either way, when you add mushrooms to a burger, the earthy and savory flavors really stand out!
