Today we’re sharing tips on how to bake chicken wings so they come out crispy and juicy every time.

How Long To Bake Chicken Wings

The cooking time will vary based on the size of the wings and the oven temperature. Here’s a guideline:

Oven TempChicken Wing Bake Time
350°F / 177°C60-70 minutes
375°F / 191°C50-60 minutes
400°F / 204°C40-50 minutes
425°F / 218°C30-40 minutes

Smaller wings won’t take as long to cook compared to larger wings, and if you’re using a convection/forced air oven, you can probably reduce the cooking time.

Note that if you’re cooking wings from frozen, add about 5-10 minutes to the cooking time.

Tips: If you’re making saucy wings, use a lower temperature to keep the sauce from burning. We suggest 350-375°F (177-191°C).

How to Bake Chicken Wings

  • Pat the wings dry with paper towels.
  • Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper and place an oven-safe wire rack on top.
  • Arrange the wings on the wire rack and place the baking sheet on the upper-middle rack in the oven.
  • Turn the wings halfway through the baking time for even cooking and nice crispy skin.

How To Tell When Wings Are Cooked?

The best way to check for doneness is to use an instant-read thermometer. Chicken is cooked when the temperature has reached 165°F (74°C).

Note: Be sure to insert the probe into the thickest part of the wing, avoiding the bone. If you don’t have a thermometer, pierce a wing and check to see if the juices run clear.

The meat should not be red or pink. It should also be firm to the touch and the skin should be darker in color and crispy.

Tips and Tricks for the Best Baked Chicken Wings

  1. Pat dry the wings dry with paper towels.

How to Reheat Chicken Wings in the Oven

Thank you for keeping to cooking times and temperatures… I appreciate the help! Too many want to go into prep time and what to put on the wings rather than giving information as to HOW to cook them! I just wanted times and temperatures! Thanks!
