If you don’t have a Dunkin Donuts in your town, or if their offerings have changed because of the season, you can easily make your own Coolatta drink at home. All you need is a blender and a few ingredients. We’ve included a recipe to help you get started.

What Is A Coolatta Drink?

Coined by Duncan Donuts, a coolatta is a frozen drink that’s similar to a slush. It can be fruit, coffee, or tea based, and can also include your favorite candy bar! It’s a tasty way to cool down when temperatures soar.

What Does a Coolatta Taste Like?

If you love sweet and frosty drinks, you’ll love coolattas. They’re very sweet and can be flavored to suit your preference. Some are fruity, like the strawberry flavor, while others feature bits of Kit Kat bars!

What Is The Difference Between an Iced Coffee and a Coolatta?

If you order an iced coffee at your favorite coffee shop, you’ll likely get a cup of cold coffee served over ice. You can order it to your preference such as black, sweetened, or with milk or cream. The coffee-flavored Coolatta that Duncan Donuts used to sell, and has now been replaced with what they call a Frozen Dunkin Coffee, is a smooth and creamy blend of coffee, ice, milk, and other flavorings.

Major Coolatta Flavors

If you love strawberries, here are the ingredients used in Duncan’s Strawberry flavored Coolatta: Strawberry Coolatta Concentrate (strawberry puree, water, sugar, isoglucose, natural and artificial flavoring, lime juice concentrate, lemon juice concentrate, red 40).

Cotton Candy Coolatta

The Cosmic Cotton Candy Coolatta features a blue raspberry flavor that would be a hit with kids.

Cosmic Coolatta

Cosmic Coolattas come in a couple of flavors. The grape flavor is sweet and has the taste of blue raspberries, and if you love pineapple, give the new pineapple flavor a try.

Kit Kat Coolatta

This flavor is a delicious combination of Kit Kat bars blended with a creamy frozen vanilla bean base. It’s basically a dessert you enjoy with a straw!

Why Did Dunkin Donuts Stop Selling Coolatta Coffee?

According to Dunkin Donuts, the original Coffee Coolatta was discontinued because it didn’t meet their standards. They have replaced it with the new Frozen Coffee drink.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup coffee, cold
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons vanilla syrup, or to taste
  • 2 cups ice
  • 2 tablespoons whipped cream

Instructions

  • Place the coffee, milk, vanilla syrup, and ice in a blender. Start with the liquids and add the ice in last. Quickly blend until it is still a bit icy.
  • Pour into a tall glass and top with whipped cream.

Notes

  • If you prefer a stronger coffee taste, brew twice the amount of coffee grounds or double the amount of instant coffee.
  • For intense coffee flavor, use frozen cubes of coffee instead of ice cubes or play around with the amount of ice cubes versus frozen coffee cubes.
