Tips and Tricks

  • Smaller mushrooms are recommended for this recipe but if you have large mushrooms, simply cut them in half.
  • As the mushrooms fry, stir them occasionally to ensure they’re fully cooked.
  • These mushrooms are best served immediately after they’re cooked. If you have leftovers, store them in the fridge in an airtight container. To reheat, use a toaster oven or a regular oven to crisp them up.

How To Prepare Mushrooms

The first step is to clean the mushrooms. Use a damp paper towel to gently wipe each mushroom. If desired, quickly rinse the mushrooms in a colander and pat dry. Slice and discard the ends of the stems. The mushrooms are now ready to use.

How Long Does It Take To Fry Mushrooms?

Mushrooms cook quickly. The amount of time needed for frying will depend on the size of the mushrooms but generally, the mushrooms will be golden brown and tender in about three minutes.

What Beer Should I Use For Beer Batter?

A mild, lightly flavored beer is preferred as it will allow the flavor of the mushrooms to shine through. If you prefer a stronger tasting batter, use a lightly colored ale.
