How to Make Cornbread with Creamed Corn

    • Mix cornmeal, flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt in a medium bowl. Set aside.
    • Combine the butter, corn, sour cream, milk, and eggs in a large bowl and whisk everything together until combined.
    • Add the cornmeal to the butter and mix everything with a wooden spoon. The consistency should be similar to that of pancake batter. If it’s too thin, add more flour until the mixture thickens a little more.
    • Pour the batter into the greased pan and place it in the oven. Reduce heat to 375°F immediately and bake at 400°F for 25 to 30 minutes. (It may remain moist in the middle, which is perfectly fine.)
    • Take the pan out of the oven when ready. Allow the bread to cool in the pan for at least 15 minutes before slicing and serving.

Tips and Tricks for The Best Moist Cornbread

    • This bread can also cook well in a cast iron skillet. For crispier edges, heat the cast iron pan in the oven before adding the batter to it.
    • For your cornbread to be creamy instead of crumbly and dry, you will want the batter you’re working with to be moist. If the batter is stiff, the bread will naturally begin to crumble while baking. Use a pan that allows the batter to rise because this will help it retain moisture. Look for a pan that allows the batter to grow at least one inch without spilling over.

Can You Add Cream Corn To Cornbread?

Definitely. Adding creamed corn will add more flavor and a hint of sweetness to your cornbread. It will give you a heartier, more dense bread that is textured rather than fluffy.

What Can I Add To a Cornbread Mix?

If you’re using a cornbread mix, add ingredients like eggs, milk, sour cream, vegetable oil, and honey to keep it moist.
