What Is The Difference Between Japanese Ramen And Chinese Ramen?
Japanese ramen is typically made with a base sauce of salt, miso, and soy sauce. Chinese ramen doesn’t include a base sauce and is seasoned with salt and additional spices.
Ingredients You’ll Need
- ramen noodles
- chicken stock
- minced garlic
- fresh ginger
- soy sauce
- sugar
- cooking wine
- sesame oil
- vegetables of choice
- cooked eggs
- green onions
How to Make Chinese Ramen
- Place the broth ingredients in a saucepan over high heat. Cover with a lid and bring to a simmer. Reduce to medium and simmer for 8 – 10 minutes to allow the flavors to blend.
- Meanwhile, cook the noodles according to the package directions.
- Add the vegetables to the broth and cook until tender.
- Place the noodles into two bowls. Top with the chicken, add the broth and garnish with the green onions.
Tips and Tricks
- Avoid cooking the noodles in the soup broth. You’ll end up with little broth because the noodles soak up a lot of liquid as they cook.
- Customize the ramen by adding your favorite veggies, meat, and toppings.
