Tips and Tricks

  • Any kind of cooked pork can be used for this soup, including tenderloin, pork chops, roast pork or pulled pork.
  • If you use uncooked instead of cooked pork, replace the chicken broth in the recipe with the pork broth you’ll have from boiling the pork in water and seasonings.
  • If you have leftover veggies on hand, use them as well!

How Long Does It Take Pork To Boil?

The amount of time will depend on the type and size of the cut you’re using. Leaner cuts of pork won’t take as long to boil as less lean cuts. The best way to check for doneness is to use an instant-read thermometer. Cooked pork is done when it reaches 145°F.

What Broth Goes Best With Pork?

Pork broth is similar in flavor to chicken broth. Feel free to replace chicken broth with pork broth and vice versa.

How to Prevent Pork Chops From Drying Out?

Pork chops can dry out if they’re overcooked. Because the pork in this recipe is reheated in broth for a short amount of time, it shouldn’t dry out.

Is Pork Broth Good For You?

Yes. Pork broth is known for its heart health benefits and is also rich in nutrients. Pork bones are high in calcium and conjugated linolenic acids which help to improve immune function and reduce body fat deposits. They also promote healthy cholesterol.
