Easy Pork Jowl Recipe

A New Year’s Eve classic in the southern parts of the US, pork jowl (or hog jowl) is a traditional soul food dish best served with collard greens, black-eyed peas, and warm cornbread.
Servings: 4

Ingredients 

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 pound smoked pork jowl, sliced into 1/4-inch pieces
  • salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 teaspoon sugar

Instructions 

  • Place a cast iron skillet over medium-high heat. Heat oil until hot.
  • Season pork jowl with salt, pepper, and sugar and sear on each side for 3 to 4 minutes, until crispy all around.
