Bisquick impossible hamburger pie is a classic recipe that’s been around for years. It was originally printed on the back of a box of Bisquick biscuit mix. The hamburger pie is made with ground beef, shredded cheese, eggs, and Bisquick to hold it all together. It’s similar to meatloaf but in a pie shape.

Ingredients You’ll Need

  • white onion
  • garlic
  • salt
  • pepper
  • cheddar cheese
  • Bisquick mix
  • milk

How to Make Impossible Hamburger Pie

  • Brown the ground beef and the onions in a skillet until the beef is no longer pink and the onions are translucent. Add minced garlic, salt and pepper. Mix well.
  • Spread the beef mixture on the bottom of the prepared pie plate. Sprinkle the shredded cheese on top.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together the Bisquick, milk and eggs. Pour evenly over the beef and cheese.
  • Bake at 400ºF for 30 minutes or until the middle of the pie is set and the top is golden brown. A knife inserted in the center should come out clean and feel hot. Serve immediately.

How to Tell When The Hamburger Pie Is Done

The top of the pie should be golden brown and the middle should feel firm to the touch. Try inserting a knife into the center. It should come out clean and feel hot to the touch.

Variations

  • Bacon Cheeseburger Pie: Add cooked bacon bits to the beef mixture.
  • Cheeseburger Pie with Pie Crust: Place the meat mixture into a homemade or store-bought pie crust.
  • Make it Gluten-Free: Use gluten-free Bisquick instead of regular Bisquick. Follow the rest of the recipe and cooking instructions as indicated.

What to Serve with Impossible Hamburger Pie

Impossible Hamburger Pie pairs well with lots of side dishes. Here are some ideas:

  • Biscuits and gravy
  • Fruit or fresh green salads
  • Mashed, scalloped, or baked potatoes
  • Vegetables like green beans, butternut squash, and broccoli

Why Is My Cheeseburger Pie So Hard?

The pie might be overcooked. Because ovens vary, check the pie at the 20 minute mark to see how it’s progressing. When the pie is done, immediately remove it from the oven to slightly cool before serving.
