An unopened can of tuna will last in your pantry for years but you should keep an eye on the best before date. If the can is rusty or dented, it’s best to throw it away. 

Leftover canned tuna should be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-5 days.

How To Tell If Canned Tuna Is Bad?

If a can of tuna has any of the following characteristics, it’s best to discard it. If you’re ever in doubt, you should throw the tuna out. 

  • If a can of tuna is rusty or dented, it’s best to toss it. 
  • Tuna that has gone off will have an unpleasant odor.  
  • The color of spoiled tuna may take on a reddish, dark brown, or black color.

How To Store Canned Tuna? 

Unopened cans of tuna should be stored at room temperature, away from heat sources. Once opened, leftovers should be placed in an airtight container and refrigerated for 3-5 days.

How Long Should Tuna Salad Be Kept In The Freezer?
