- 3 lbs ground pork room temperature
- 1/3 cup finely chopped onions
- 2 tsp finely minced fresh parsley
- 2 tsp sea salt
- 1 tsp ground sage
- 2 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp chili powder
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp dried basil
- 2 teaspoons maple syrup
Combine all of the seasonings and mix together until well blended.
Add the ground pork, maple syrup and onion, using your hands to combine thoroughly.
Shape into patties and fry in a lightly oiled heavy skillet or griddle over medium-high heat. Cook for a few minutes on each side until the patties are nicely browned and no longer pink in the middle. The best way to check for doneness is to insert an instant-read thermometer into the center of each patty. When it reaches 160°F, the patty is safe to eat.
- You can use your hands to shape the patties or place the ground pork between two pieces of plastic wrap and use a rolling pin to shape the patties to the desired thickness. To achieve a perfect round shape, use a cookie cutter or the opening of a drinking glass and press down.
