How to Toast Coconut
Toasted coconut adds a unique flavor to desserts, from cupcakes and muffins to parfaits and ice cream. But it’s also delicious in yogurt, cereals, and salads.

- 4 cups Coconut flakes
- parchment paper optional
Preheat the oven to 325°F.
Place the coconut flakes or shredded coconut on a rimmed baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Bake 2-4 minutes until lightly golden, stirring halfway for an even color.
Remove from the oven and use in recipes.
- Sugar will make sweetened coconut toast quicker. Check it more frequently than unsweetened.
- To make it on the stovetop, stir coconut flakes in a pan over medium-low heat for several minutes.
- Microwaving is even faster. Place the coconut on a plate and microwave on high for 20 seconds, stir, and repeat until golden brown.
