Ingredients

For the Sauce

  • 1 large orange juice and zest
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • ¼ cup rice vinegar or white vinegar
  • ½ cup brown sugar packed
  • 2 large garlic cloves minced, or 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 1 tbsp water

For the Chicken

  • 1 pound cooked chicken

Instructions

  • Place the orange juice, orange zest, soy sauce, vinegar, brown sugar and garlic in a medium saucepan.
  • Heat the mixture over medium heat and bring to a low boil. Carefully taste the mixture and add more soy sauce, sugar, or vinegar to suit your taste.
  • Mix the cornstarch and water in a cup to make a slurry and pour into the sauce. Stir constantly until the sauce begins to thicken enough to coat the back of a spoon. This step can take anywhere from about 30 seconds to a few minutes.
  • Add fully cooked fried chicken or the meat of your choice and toss to fully coat in the sauce.
  • Garnish with optional green onions, red pepper flakes, or sesame seeds and serve.
  • This recipe makes enough sauce to coat 1 pound of chicken.
