Easy Mascarpone Frosting
Mascarpone frosting is made using sweet Italian-style cream cheese. Whether you’re making a rich, decadent tiramisu or traditional cannoli, homemade mascarpone frosting adds a bit of luxury to your desserts. It’s also delicious in non-Italian desserts and can be used to top any of your favorite cakes and cupcakes.

- 16 ounces mascarpone cheese
- 2 cups powdered sugar (confectioner’s sugar)
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
Add the mascarpone and powdered sugar to the large mixing bowl. Using a hand mixer, beat for about one minute to make it light and fluffy. Note: a stand mixer also works well for this recipe.
Using a spatula, scrape down the sides of the bowl. Add the vanilla extract and beat for another 10 seconds until combined.
With the mixer on high speed, pour in the cream gradually over a minute or so. The frosting will get fluffy. Avoid overmixing to prevent curdling.
The frosting is now ready to use. Use a spatula to frost a cake or alternatively a pastry bag and piping set to pipe into cupcakes or other desserts.
