Ingredients

  • 4-5 medium russet potatoes peeled or scrubbed
  • 1 cup flour
  • 3/4 – 1 1/2 cups water
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon seasoning salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground red pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon parsley flakes
  • salt to taste
  • vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  • Mix all of the ingredients (except for the potatoes and vegetable oil) in a large bowl. Start with ¾ cup water and add more as needed to achieve a mixture that’s the consistency of heavy cream.
  • Cut the potatoes into 1/4 – ½-inch fries. Rinse the potatoes several times with cold water until the water runs clear. Place the potatoes in a microwave-safe bowl and fill the bowl with just enough water to cover the potatoes. Microwave for 2-4 minutes only as you don’t want the potatoes to cook through. Rinse the potatoes with cold water and place them in a colander to drain.
  • Heat the vegetable oil in a large pot to 325°F.
  • Place the potatoes in the flour batter and toss until well coated. Then add the potatoes to the hot oil and fry for 4-5 minutes, or until golden brown.
  • Transfer the fries to a paper towel-lined plate and season with salt to taste.
  • Serve and enjoy!
