For the Filling
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 8- ounce can tomato sauce divided
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 1/4 tablespoons chili powder
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1 teaspoon oregano
- salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
To Assemble
- taco shells
- 8 white corn tortillas
- diced avocado for garnish
- shredded lettuce for garnish
- diced red onion for garnish
- diced tomato for garnish
- sliced jalapeño peppers for garnish
- shredded cheddar cheese for garnish
- sour cream for garnish
- lime wedges
Add oil to a nonstick skillet over medium to medium-high heat. When the skillet is hot, add the ground beef and cook until brown with no hint of pink. Add the tomato sauce and all of the spices. Cook, stirring occasionally, for about 5-7 minutes.
Serve with tortillas or crisp taco shells and your favorite toppings.
