- ½ cup ketchup
- ¼ cup water
- ¼ cup Dijon mustard
- 1/4 cup balsamic vinegar
- ¼ cup orange juice
- ½ cup Worcestershire sauce
- 2 garlic cloves minced
- 1 shallot sliced
- ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper
- ¼ cup sugar optional, adjust to personal taste
In a medium saucepan over medium heat, add all ingredients.
Bring to a boil and then let it simmer for about 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Have a quick taste-test. Add sugar if you’d like the sauce to be slightly sweeter. Cook the sauce until it is thick enough to coat the back of a spoon.
Transfer the sauce to a jar and let it cool before serving.
- You can puree and strain the sauce for a smoother texture.
- Don’t overcook the sauce as it thickens when it cools.
