How Long To Roast White Potatoes

Golden crispy white potatoes should be roasted at a higher temperature for 45-55 minutes. We like to roast white potatoes at 400°F.

Be sure to turn the potatoes a few times while they’re roasting so they’re crisp all over. Here’s a guide to roasting times based on temperature:

    • 350°F (175°C): 65-75 minutes
    • 375°F (190°C): 55-65 minutes
    • 400°F (200°C): 45-55 minutes
    • 450°F (230°C): 35-45 minutes

    Tips and Tricks

    • Roast your white potatoes at a higher temperature for crisper skins.
    • Season generously to bring out the best flavor.
    • If you have extra time, you can par boil your white potatoes before roasting.

What To Serve With Roasted White Potatoes

Everything goes well with roasted white potatoes – you really can’t go wrong. Serve them with your favorite protein or alongside other veggies. They’re also great served with egg dishes for breakfast and brunch!

Are White Potatoes Good For Roasting?

Yes, white potatoes are an all-purpose vegetable. They are delicious when roasted, boiled, mashed, steamed, or fried.

Is It Better To Parboil White Potatoes Before Roasting?

Yes, the amount of baking time is reduced when white potatoes are parboiled first. Parboiling also creates crispier roasted potatoes. If potatoes are not parboiled, the skin can be tough and they don’t crisp up as well.

Should White Potatoes Be Soaked In Water Before Roasting?

Soaking white potatoes in water before roasting releases some of the starch and makes for crispier roasted potatoes. Cut the potatoes into cubes and let them soak in cold water for about an hour. Note that this step can be skipped if you’re short on time.
