    Ingredients You’ll Need

    • chicken breasts
    • kosher salt and black pepper
    • onion powder
    • garlic powder
    • paprika, optional
    • dried Italian seasoning
    • olive oil or avocado oil
    • unsalted butter (optional)

    How To Cook Chicken Breast On Stove

    • Place one of the chicken breasts between two sheets of plastic wrap. Use a meat mallet to flatten the breast until ½-inch thick. Repeat with the remaining breasts. You can also cut each breast in half horizontally to make 2 thinner pieces from each breast.
    • Pat the chicken breasts dry with paper towels.
    • In a small bowl, combine the kosher salt, black pepper, onion powder, garlic powder,  paprika (if using), and Italian seasoning (if using). Sprinkle the mixture evenly over both sides of each chicken breast. 
    • Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Pour in the olive oil and heat until shimmering. Add the chicken breasts and gently press down with tongs to ensure they’re in full contact with the skillet. Cook for 5-7 minutes until golden brown.
    • Flip the breasts to the other side and add the butter. Swirl the pan to evenly distribute the juices. Baste the breasts with the butter and cook for another 5-7 minutes or until the internal temperature of the chicken has reached165ºF. 
    • Transfer the chicken to a plate to rest for 5 minutes.
    • Serve the chicken breasts whole or sliced as desired.
