    What Is Frito Salad?

    Frito salad is a delicious salad that’s full of different flavors, colors, and textures. It features kidney beans, lettuce, shredded cheese, tomatoes, red onion, two kinds of salad dressing, and crunchy Frito corn chips!

    Ingredients You’ll Need

    • Cherry tomatoes
    • Catalina sweet and spicy salad dressing
    • French salad dressing
    • red onion
    • iceberg lettuce
    • kidney beans
    • shredded cheddar cheese
    • Fritos corn chips

    How to Make Frito Salad

    • In a small bowl, combine the tomatoes, salad dressings, and onion. Marinate in the fridge for a minimum of one hour before serving.
    • Chop the lettuce into bite-sized pieces. Toss in a large bowl.
    • Add the kidney beans and cheese.
    • Remove the salad dressing mixture from the fridge and add to the bowl.
    • Just before serving, add the Fritos. Mix well and enjoy!

    Prepare Ahead

    • Start the salad ahead of time by dicing the tomatoes and chopping the red onion. Add them to the salad dressing to marinate for a few hours.  
    • Cut the lettuce into pieces on the same day you’ll be serving the salad. If the lettuce is cut too far in advance, it may turn brown. 

    Serving Ideas

    This salad is a good source of protein thanks to the kidney beans. It can be enjoyed on its own or served alongside grilled meat, burgers, hot dogs, fish, or chicken – just about anything goes! It’s also great for potlucks and family get-togethers.

    • 8 Cherry tomatoes halved

    • 1 can kidney beans drained and rinsed
    • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
    • 4 cups Fritos corn chips slightly crushed

    Instructions 

    • In a small bowl, combine the tomatoes, salad dressings, and onion. Marinate in the fridge for a minimum of one hour before serving.
    • Chop the lettuce into bite-sized pieces. Toss in a large bowl.
    • Add the kidney beans and cheese.
