What is the Best Way to Eat Canned Salmon?

You may not realize it but canned salmon is already cooked! All you have to do is drain the liquids and enjoy! If you’re in a rush and looking for a quick snack, simply grab your favorite crackers and top with the salmon. However, if you’re looking for something a bit more filling while staying healthy, try a salmon salad, a salmon wrap, or a salmon sandwich.

Is Canned Salmon Healthy?

Yes! Canned salmon is incredibly healthy. It’s high in protein, vitamin D, omega-3 fats, and there’s a good amount of calcium in the tiny edible bones. Plus, if you have little ones at home, salmon helps to promote healthy brain development. You may think that eating fresh salmon is a healthier choice, but both fresh and canned salmon are great sources of protein and nutrients. The only slight difference is that there are higher levels of two omega-3s in canned pink and red salmon.

What is the Best Canned Salmon?

When it comes to buying canned salmon, there are a few things to consider – price, nutritional value, and taste. With this in mind, the two best types of canned salmon are pink salmon and red salmon. They both have light color with flavorful flesh and low-fat content. Pink salmon has a lot of protein, carbohydrates, vitamin D, and vitamin B12.

Red salmon contains more fat per serving than pink salmon, and has a flavor that’s a bit like chicken. When looking at brands, Wild Planet tops the list. It’s known to be the freshest, most nutritious, and the most environmentally friendly. Coming in next are Chicken of the Sea, and StarKist because of their delicious flavors and versatility, while Bumble Bee is more economical and heartier.
