What Is Bisquick?

Bisquick is a baking mix that can be used to make sweet baked goods like pancakes, biscuits, cakes, and cookies, as well as savory dishes like quiche and fried chicken.

Ingredients You’ll Need

  • yellow onion
  • shredded Swiss cheese
  • cooked bacon
  • eggs
  • sea salt and ground black pepper
  • milk
  • Bisquick

(Note: Full recipe is at the bottom of the post)

How to Make Bisquick Quiche

  • Preheat the oven to 400°F. Lightly grease a 10-inch glass or metal pie plate.
  • Evenly spread the onions, Swiss cheese, and bacon over the bottom of the pie plate.
  • Place the eggs, salt, and pepper in a medium bowl. Whisk until combined. Add the milk and whisk again.
  • Add the Bisquick and whisk for about 1 minute, or until the mixture is completely smooth and free of lumps.
  • Pour the mixture into the pie plate over the other ingredients.
  • Bake for 35 minutes. Insert a toothpick into the center of the quiche. If it comes out clean, the quiche is done. If it comes out wet, try another spot to confirm that the quiche may need to bake for a few more minutes. You don’t want to overcook it.
  • Let the quiche cool on a wire rack for about 15 minutes before serving.
  • Serve and enjoy!

Tips And Tricks

  • Blind bake the pie crust to keep it from becoming soggy. See below for instructions on how to do this.
  • Avoid overcooking the quiche as it can become rubbery. Insert a toothpick into the center of the quiche to test for doneness. If the toothpick is wet in a few places, it requires a little more time to cook.

How To Serve Bisquick Quiche

Quiche is delicious with a fresh green salad. It also pairs well with sauteed veggies, fries, or a hot bowl of soup.

Variations

Make this quiche your own by using different ingredients. Here are some ideas:

  • Instead of bacon, use crumbled sausage, diced cooked chicken or turkey, or even sliced deli meat.
  • Make it heartier by adding veggies. Asparagus, broccoli, cauliflower, spinach, and zucchini are good options.
  • Try different kinds of sharp cheese like cheddar, feta, parmesan, or gruyere.
  • Omit the meat for a vegetarian-friendly quiche or use a plant-based protein option.

How To Store Bisquick Quiche

Leftover quiche should be cooled to room temperature, placed in an airtight container and refrigerated for up to 3 days.

Can I Freeze Bisquick Quiche?

Yes. Let the quiche cool to room temperature and then transfer to a freezer-safe container. Quiche can be stored in the freezer for up to 3 months.

How To Reheat Bisquick Quiche

The best way to reheat quiche is in the oven. To ensure that the crust doesn’t become too brown, cover it loosely with foil. Bake in a preheated 350°F oven for 15-20 minutes until heated through. Quiche can also be reheated in a toaster oven with good results, or in the microwave at reduced power if you’re short on time. Leftover frozen quiche can be reheated without defrosting. Bake it for about 25 to 30 minutes until completely warm throughout.

Why Is My Quiche Not Cooked In The Middle?

Ingredients that contain a lot of liquid can make it difficult for the quiche to set. If you’re using a lot of vegetables, cook them first to release any excess moisture.

How Long Should Quiche Rest Before Cutting?

Let the quiche rest for about 15 minutes before slicing. This will allow it to set properly.

How Do You Keep The Crust From Getting Soggy On The Bottom?

Blind baking is a form of pre-baking that helps to keep crusts crisp and prevents them from warping or rising. Place parchment on top of the raw pie crust and fill with pie weights or dried beans right up to the sides of the pie crust. Bake in a preheated 375°F oven for about 15 minutes until the edges of the crust begin to brown. Remove the pie weights, prick holes all over the bottom of the crust with a fork, and then bake again for 7-8 minutes. The crust is now ready for the quiche.
